Welcome to this special Valentine's Day episode of Curious for Christ, Surrendering Your Desire for a Husband to God's Will. Today I want to share something personal. I've been married for almost 19 years, and my husband and I have walked through many seasons together. But growing up, I didn't have a model of a healthy marriage. My mother passed away when I was very young, and I was raised by a single father. I didn't truly understand what love was. It wasn't marriage, either, that taught me about love. It was God. He showed me what perfect, unconditional love looks like. And through Him, I've learned how to live that out in my marriage. Imperfectly, but faithfully. So, if you've ever longed for a husband or felt like marriage would bring the fulfillment you're missing, I want to share some insights that will shift your perspective because surrendering your desires to God, and not just for a husband, but any desire, quite honestly, isn't about giving up, it's about stepping into something greater. Welcome to Curious for Christ. Do you ever find yourself lying awake at night, wondering about God's plan for your life? Maybe you wake up with big dreams, but feel unsure where to start or what your next step should be. If you're curious about exploring your faith and finding purpose, then you've come to the right place. Hi, I'm Alexandra. I too felt lost, unsure of the direction my life was taking. I yearned to understand my purpose and have someone guide me. But I kept telling myself I was too busy, the timing wasn't right, and my lack of clarity prevented me from being consistent, until I found Christ. He brought peace into my life and revealed the way to find purpose, by anchoring myself In this podcast, we'll journey together exploring the Bible to gain a deeper understanding of Him and cultivate your own personal relationship with Christ. So open up your Bible, put in those earbuds and listen up because God is speaking to you. He is making everything new and you don't want to miss it. Let's get started. So, what's really behind the desire for a husband? Wanting marriage is natural. It's a beautiful desire. But if we're not careful, we can place expectations on a husband that only God can fulfill. It's easy to believe that marriage will bring security, love, or even identity. But no human relationship was ever meant to complete us. Only God can do that. So what happens when we surrender this desire to God, we begin to see that he is the one who truly satisfies. And when our hearts are full in him, we step into relationships, whether now or in the future, from a place of wholeness, rather than longing. What does it mean to surrender? Surrendering isn't about pretending we don't want something. It's about trusting God's plan over our own. It means saying, God, I desire a husband, or a relationship, a boyfriend, or whatever it is you desire, but I trust that you know what's best for me. I release my timeline, my expectations, and my need for control. Lead me in your perfect will. When we let go of control, we're not losing, we're making space for God's best. Why God calls us to surrender, you might ask. Well, because waiting isn't just about patience. It's about transformation. God isn't withholding a blessing from you. He's preparing you for it. Sometimes we're not ready to receive what we're asking for. There are things He wants to refine in us first. Things like trust or identity or even healing from past wounds. Surrendering allows God to work in us before he brings the desires of our heart to pass. How do we surrender our desire for a husband to God's will? Have four steps number one, recognize that God alone completes you. A husband is a beautiful gift, but he isn't your source of fulfillment. God is. Meditate on Psalm 23 verse 1 that says, The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. Let this truth sink in. If you have God, you are not lacking anything. Number two, shift from give me to use me. Instead of focusing on what you don't have, ask God, how can you use me right now? God has a purpose for this season. Maybe he's calling you to grow spiritually, invest in friendships, pursue a passion, or step into something new. Get a mentor. Your life is not on hold until marriage. Number three, trust God's timing. Surrendering means releasing your grip on when and how things happen. God's timing is perfect, even when it doesn't match our expectations. Isaiah 55 verse 9 says, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. If God is asking you to wait, it's because he's working on something greater than you can see right now. Maybe he's working on your husband. Number four, prepare your heart for God's best. Use this season to become the person who is ready for the blessing. Work on your relationship with God, heal from past hurts, and grow in confidence in who you are in Christ. Marriage isn't about finding the perfect person, it's about becoming the person who can love well. So God's love is your foundation. This Valentine's Day, I want to remind you You are already fully loved. God's love for you is not conditional. It's not based on whether or not you get married. It's complete, fulfilling, and unwavering. And when you truly receive that love, you'll find peace, whether single or married, whether waiting or stepping into something new. So, this is it, my friend. if this episode spoke to your heart, I'd love to help you walk this journey of surrender and preparation.
